Sheikh “Muhammad Abdullah Draz” was regarded as a prominent scholarly figure: he wrote notable commentaries on Imam al-Shatibi's “Al-Muwafaqat”, and his grandfather was an Azhari sheikh who attracted students of Islamic law seeking to benefit from his knowledge. In his book “An Introduction to the Holy Quran”, Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Draz followed a research methodology different from the prevailing one. Conventional study examines the source of any book and then its content, whereas Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Draz holds that the Holy Quran may be an exception to this rule, since he considers the idea of its divine source to be not merely part of its message but its very core. He also holds that the Holy Quran addresses the Messenger (peace be upon him) or speaks about him from the beginning of the first surah to the end of the last, which calls for a research methodology different from the prevailing one
