Ahmad al-Dardir is Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abi Hamid al-Adawi al-Maliki al-Azhari al-Khalwati, known by this title. He was born in the village of Bani Adi, located in Upper Egypt and inhabited by the Bani Adi Qurayshi tribe, in the year 1127 AH / 1715 AD. His lineage traces back to Umar ibn al-Khattab.
