The Message of Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi'i

"Al-Risala" is a book by Imam Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi'i, and it is considered one of the most prominent books in the science of usul al-fiqh (principles of Islamic jurisprudence). This book is considered a foundation for the science of Islamic usul al-fiqh, as al-Shafi'i presents his concepts and principles for deriving Islamic rulings from the Quran and Sunnah, and defines the rules of ijtihad (independent reasoning) and how to use qiyas (analogy) and ijma (consensus) in understanding legal texts.
