Shajarat al-Durr Muhammad Saeed Al-Arian

All reasons of uniqueness and greatness surrounded the personality of "Shajar al-Durr", as she was the first and last queen of Egypt after the Islamic conquest, and she was the first slave woman to sit on the throne of Egypt. Her rule of Egypt was a turning point between the Ayyubid and Mamluk states. During her reign, the Crusaders' power was broken and the Mongol invasion of the Islamic world began. During her reign, the Mahmal began its journey to Mecca, carrying the Kaaba's covering. The story before us clearly shows the features of this woman; we see in her the tender, loving heart, the scheming mind, selfishness and cruelty, avarice and stinginess, and strength and resolve. The writer was able to gather many events in a wonderful narrative framework, making "Shajar al-Durr" its main محور, while preserving the literary aspect of the story and the historical aspect of one of the most important periods in Egypt's history.
