Abu Abdullah Shams al-Din Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr ibn Ayyub ibn Sa'd ibn Hulayz al-Zar'i al-Dimashqi al-Hanbali, known as "Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya" or "Ibn al-Qayyim," was born in 691 AH / 1292 CE and died in 751 AH / 1350 CE. He was a fervent jurist, hadith scholar, translator, and Islamic researcher, and is considered one of the most prominent imams of the Hanbali school in the first half of the eighth century AH.
