The Sasanids established a vast empire in Persia, and Sasanian kings called themselves "Shahanshah" (King of Kings), while Sasanian queens held the title "Malikat al-Malikat" (Queen of Queens). Sasanian kings made fire a symbol of the national religion; on their coins, the king appears with his crown and luxurious garments on one side of the coin, while fire appears on the other side. The lineage of Bani Sasan traces back to their ancestor Sasan ibn Babak, who ruled Persia from 224 AD to 651 AD.

The Sasanian Empire went through several eras, beginning with the era of its foundation, then the end of the Sasanian Empire at the hands of the Muslim conquerors around the year 21 AH (642 AD).

In this book, we learn about the emperors from the House of Sasan, starting with Ardashir I (180-242 AD), the founder of the Sasanian Empire, and concluding with Yazdegerd ibn Shahriyar, or Yazdegerd III. We explore the manifestations of this civilization, its strengths, and what it offered humanity in terms of civilization and human sciences. We also learn about its periods of weakness and collapse in a sequential historical narrative.
