Stations of the Seekers by Shaykh al-Islam Abdullah al-Ansari al-Harawi
First Degree: Public satisfaction, which is satisfaction with God as Lord and aversion to worshipping anything other than Him.
Second Degree: Satisfaction with God Almighty, and the verses of revelation spoke of this satisfaction. It is satisfaction with Him in all that He has decreed and destined, and this is one of the first paths of the elite. It is valid under three conditions: the equality of states for the servant, the cessation of contention with creation, and sincerity in supplication and persistence.
Third Degree: Satisfaction with God's satisfaction, so the servant sees no displeasure or satisfaction for himself, which prompts him to abandon control, resolve choice, and relinquish distinction, even if he were to enter Hell.»
