People's perspectives on life differ according to their moods, psychological states, and surrounding environments. Some may see it as green, vast, and joyful. Others may see it as pitch black, narrow, and miserable, each according to the social and psychological climate that surrounds them, leading them to a different view of life that greatly differs from a counterpart who may be living in the same circumstances.
In this book, we present examples of men and women whose vision of life was of the second type. They made the desperate decision to withdraw from life in silence and tranquility, yet leaving behind disturbance and uproar.
You may be surprised – dear reader – when you realize that these suicides were people of wealth, influence, and fame, and by our calculations, we might think they were the furthest people from despair of life and the decision to commit suicide. However, you will realize that the causes of suicide are not only poverty, illness, and idleness, but often they are a natural result of excessive wealth and absolute stardom, accompanied by distance from God, and consequently, the emptiness of the soul from the beautiful meanings that sustain a person and make them cling to life.
