Ibrahim Khalil Ahmad, formerly known as “Reverend Ibrahim Khalil Philips”, served as pastor of the Evangelical Church and professor of doctrine and theology at the Faculty of Theology in Assiut until 1953, and then worked as general secretary of the German-Swiss Mission in Aswan. He held specialized qualifications in theology: he obtained a diploma from the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo in 1948, and then a master's degree in philosophy.
