Islamic Military Figures Tariq Abdullah
The men of Islamic military history were the finest soldiers in the plan of the finest of commanders (peace be upon him); their blood was for God, their souls were for God, and their wars were waged for God and in support of His religion, and to raise the words “There is no god but God… Muhammad is the Messenger of God” high in people's hearts before the lands and regions.
These men were not lured by fame or false glory; they were drawn by Paradise in the Hereafter and by the vision of light spreading through the hearts of the people of the earth, by hands that carried swords, spears, rifles and cannons, hurling truth against falsehood until it was crushed and vanished.
This book holds within its pages a remembrance whose guidance we need to follow and whose path we need to walk, so that Islam may regain its glory and splendour among the nations of the world, and so that we know that in our history and among our own people there were great commanders of high standing and authority. We should not live and die enslaved by Western history and the memory of its men, such as Rommel, Hitler and Heraclius, who are in truth feeble sticks before the Drawn Sword of God, Khalid, and Amr ibn al-As, al-Qaqa ibn Amr and Qutayba ibn Muslim; those who broke the forebears of the very men the West has portrayed to us as unmatched by any ever born.
Whoever reads this book will learn the stories of the men of truth throughout Islamic history: beginning with the supreme commander of the army of monotheism, Muhammad (peace be upon him), and his military method and strategic technique; then the stories of his students, his Companions (may God be pleased with them), who broke the two mightiest empires in the world, Persia and Rome, for the sake of God; then those who came after them and followed their path through the ages of Islam under the Umayyads, Abbasids, Ayyubids, Mamluks and Ottomans; and ending with the famous commanders of our own age, whose noble hands carried pure souls in defence of their homelands against colonialism and its agents. We hope that the book achieves its aim in the reader's soul.
