About the author

Abbas Mahmoud Al-Akkad (1889-1964) was an Egyptian writer, thinker, journalist, and poet. He was born in Aswan, southern Egypt. His father was Egyptian and his mother was of Kurdish origin. Al-Akkad was known for his literary and intellectual writings and contributed significantly to the literary and political life in Egypt.
