over who would ascend the throne of France, as English kings claimed their right to the French throne and fought for it. It took place in the Middle Ages, and thousands of casualties fell from both sides before the war ended, marking the conclusion of one of the longest wars in the Middle Ages

in 1453 CE. The war spanned the reigns of five English kings and five French kings who fought for control over France. The war ended in 1453 CE, and as a result, England lost all its territories in continental Europe except for the city of Calais, which the French seized

later in 1558 CE.

This war was essentially a dynastic conflict. However, it contributed to the development of national sentiment for both the French and the English, and it ushered in new weapons and methods that changed the older system of feudal armies. In addition, its long duration often led historians to consider it one of the most important and longest conflicts in the history of medieval warfare.
