Sunan al-Tirmidhi Muhammad al-Tirmidhi
About the Author of Sunan al-Tirmidhi
“He was born in the city of Tirmidh, then traveled in search of Hadith to Khorasan, Iraq, and Hijaz. He did not travel to Egypt and Shaam. He narrated from a large number of Hadith scholars and became proficient in Hadith through the narration of al-Bukhari. After his travels and scholarly writing, he became blind due to old age. He passed away on the 13th of Rajab, 279 AH, in the city of Tirmidh where he was born.”
Description of Sunan al-Tirmidhi
“The interpretation of Hadith in the first section agreed with al-Bukhari and Muslim. In the second section, the Hadith met the conditions of the three [imams] without them. Another section was dedicated to contradictions, clarifying their defects. In the fourth section, he clarified the Hadith and its method of transmission. Given the great importance of this book, Sheikh "Khalil Ma'moon Shiha" undertook its verification and the referencing of its Hadith against the Sunnah books, numbering it according to the indexed dictionary and Tuhfat al-Ashraf. He provided a brief introduction that included a biography of Imam al-Tirmidhi: his name, title, lineage, how he sought knowledge, his teachers, works, and students, as well as explanations of Jami' al-Sahih, and finally, his date of death.”
