Agatha Christie's Writing Style
This author has always reiterated that the greatest pleasure a writer experiences is inventing plots! In her stories, novels, and plays, we find an enormous amount of "mysteries" and "enigmatic plots," whether in the narrative structure, dramatic architecture, dialogue, or characters. Even in her choice of settings, which are often captivating: archaeological sites, oriental cities, temples, distinctive palaces, unique hotels, trains or airplanes, desolate desert passes, rivers with history, etc. The author usually resorts to a narrative technique based on "trickery or deception" as a method of creating excitement and suspense filled with mystery, stimulating her fertile imagination. This draws out her fluid, flowing language into a continuous stream of pure prose, sometimes characterized by verbosity and prolixity. To keep the reader from getting bored, she introduces certain riddles and symbols that allow for contradictory interpretations and explanations simultaneously. This pulls the reader into following the event without straying from the main axis of the dramatic structure she meticulously planned, so that her work does not come across as flat or crude.
