This book addresses one of the noblest ethical traits of Arabs: generosity. It considers generosity a distinctive characteristic in the fabric of the Arab personality. Arabs were so characterized by this trait that it became synonymous with honor, and a field for competing to reap the spoils of pride and glory. The book includes many anecdotes of generous individuals in the pre-Islamic and Islamic eras, especially those of the Barmakids and others who followed their path of generosity, such as Hatim al-Ta'i. The author succeeded in clarifying the features of this trait that forms a facet of the Arab personality. He concluded his book with many proverbs, wisdom sayings, and Prophetic hadiths that magnify the importance of generosity and elevate it to the status of human chivalry. He also drew upon historical memory, demonstrating the close connection of this trait to the Arab personality.‏‏
